Thor: Love and Thunder Deleted Scene | POPSUGAR Entertainment

Love is the key in this exclusive deleted scene from "Thor: Love and Thunder." In the clip, Zeus (Russell Crowe) teaches Thor (Chris Hemsworth) that the power of the thunderbolt comes from the heart, and that with an open heart, anything can turn into the perfect electric weapon. Zeus uses a stick to illustrate his lesson.

Then, viewers see Jane (Natalie Portman) in her hospital bed watching TV. Mjölnir the hammer floats outside her window. It bangs on the window to get her attention, and she calls it to her, even though turning into Thor again will kill her. Meanwhile, Thor has mastered the thunderbolt tip. Zeus tells him how to find Eternity, where Gorr the God Butcher is headed in order to destroy all the gods. Zeus warns that you must be pure of heart to make it, and that's why he can't go — he's not pure of heart. Jane appears at Thor's side in her Mighty Thor garb, and the two take off for Eternity on the backs of the goats Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder.

The deleted scene is quite different from what ended up in the final cut. Thor does use Zeus's thunderbolt to defeat Gorr, but he stole it from him at Omnipotence City, where all the gods meet. And Zeus does not get over the slight. In the end-credits scene, he charges his son Hercules ("Ted Lasso"'s Brett Goldstein) with hunting down and killing Thor.

Just how much of the film's plot changed over time, we don't know. Peter Dinklage and Jeff Goldblum both reportedly filmed scenes that were cut as their MCU characters, Eitri and the Grandmaster. "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey was also set to appear in the film, though she isn't in the final cut, either. It's very possible Crowe's Zeus will interact more with Thor in upcoming films.
